DCA Mickey’s Fun Wheel strands guests for over an hour in extreme heat

DCA-Mickey

Imagine a Hollywood movie where molten lava erupts in the middle of a theme park stranding park guests on a ferris wheel for hours with no easy way to evacuate. That’s what happened today at the Disneyland Resort’s Disney California Adventure park, except there was no lava and it’s technically a wonder wheel, but let’s not get picky.

Anaheim fire department was called in to evacuate riders stuck on DCA’s Mickey’s Fun Wheel. Some claim to have been stuck on the ride for over 90 minutes. With temperatures soaring to 97 degrees today, it cannot have been pleasant experience. The ride stopped around 4:30 PM and evacuations were completed around 6pm.

All guests were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. The cause of the malfunction is under investigation.

  1. Oh my. I’m glad it wasn’t longer for those poor people. In terms of evacuations, that’s really not a bad turnaround.
My family and I refer to Mickey’s Fun Wheel as Mickey’s Wheel of Terror and Death. We are your regular thrill seekers, but it only took one ride in a swinging gondola to know that I will never do that again.
    Never.
    Ever.
    Ever.
