I’m a huge fan of retro-styling and the firm that designed Universal Orlando’s 4th on-site hotel, the Cabana Bay Beach Resort, has created a design that I could marvel at for hours. The resort opens March 31st and I hope that some day soon, I’ll be able to lounge by the pool and absorb some rays in the midst of this amazing retro scene.
To countdown to the official opening, Universal sent the above photo of the main pool. It features 10,000 sq. ft., zero-entry access, and an iconic dive tower waterslide. No diving actually allowed, but the slide looks pretty amazing.
The hotel is packed with special amenities and the most budget friendly price of all-four Universal resorts. Adding a ‘value’ resort to its lineup will help Universal compete with Disney for a larger share of the Orlando market. Whether that comes from new business, siphons off guests from international drive, or takes them right from Disney’s pocket, Universal doesn’t care. But as Disney has shown, having guests staying on property all year round is one way to up attendance at the parks, even in the slow months.
