Walt Disney World Cast Member honored by PCMA for Convention Industry Achievements

This week, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) recognized George Aguel, senior vice president for The Walt Disney Company, for his lifetime of service to the meeting and convention industry. The national organization awarded Aguel with its 2012 Professional Achievement Award during a gala dinner in Washington DC. The evening honored Aguel as a leader whose energy, innovation, creativity and commitment have advanced the industry.

This may seem like a small thing to be talking about on The Disney Blog, but convention business plays a large role in the success of Walt Disney World. Not only does it fill those hotel rooms, but it also serves a giant marketing role as all those attendees return home and make plans to bring their families with them on a future trip.

George Aguel oversees the worldwide Sales and Services organization for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, in addition to leading the company’s Corporate Alliances and Operating Participants organizations.

In a hospitality career spanning more than three decades, Aguel has also held numerous volunteer leadership positions. He is Immediate past Chairman for Visit Orlando, a former member of the Orange County Tourist Development Council and a Past Chairman of Meeting Professionals International, the meeting industry’s largest trade association. Aguel currently serves on the US Travel Association’s Meetings, Incentives and Trade Show Council.

Congratulations to George, his family, and everyone at Walt Disney World who makes convention business run so smoothly!
