ESPN WWOS Complex Turns 15

Today marked the 15th anniversary of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, or as it was known back then “Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.” The facility has undergone a lot of changes over the years, a re-branding to ESPN, and hosted a number of sports celebrities.

I love the unofficial 5th gate for what it is, but I know it can be so much more and look forward to the next 15 years. I can’t wait for the 100 lane bowling alley to open. I’d love to see a professional soccer facility with a WPS or MLS team based there. I also hope they’re able to bring back and NFL team for training camp at some point.

Read Disney’s Sports Media Director Darrell Fry’s tribute to the complex at the Disney Parks blog. Of all the athletes to have visited ESPN WWOS, who is your favorite?
