When a Jungle Cruise elephant reaches that stage in its life when a “tune-up” is needed, you can’t just walk them out for some TLC. That’s largely because they’re bolted to the floor, but also unless you’re Lucky the Dinosaur, most AA’s don’t walk. So Disney does the next best thing, they give the elephant a lift via helicopter.
This year the fine folks at Disneyland captured the whole thing on video which makes for a few entertaining minutes.
When her 7-week refurbishment is complete, she will return to the Jungle Cruise and will once again be what the skippers call, “the largest and most feared animal in our jungle – the mother-in-law!
