When I get the chance to visit one of Walt Disney World’s fancier restaurants I almost always select the Wine and Cheese tasting plate. It’s not just the rare artisanal cheeses, but it’s the pairs the chef makes with the sides and wine. This video visit to Narcoossee’s with the Disney Culinary Moms group captures a little of it.
Want to try some artisanal cheese tastings on your own but don’t have a store near you that carries a wide selection? Try amazon.com. Not feeling adventurous, here is a beginner’s course that would pair well with any west coast Pinot Grigio or Savignon Blanc:
- TILLAMOOK VINTAGE WHITE SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE – (2 LB.) Baby Loaf – I grew up with Tillamook Cheese. If you’re ever on the Oregon Coast, stop by the factory for a tour. You won’t be disappointed. Serve with fig or chutney.
Cypress Grove, Humboldt Fog Cheese (1 lb) – This is very similar to what they serve in California Grill. Serve with honeycomb.
Kerrygold Dubliner with Irish Stout (8 ounce) by igourmet.com – This import from Ireland with nutty caramel flavors is delicious and not too adventurous.
Give it a try and let me know what you think?
