The Weinstein Brothers attempt to reclaim control of the film studio they founded has more ups and downs than the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. I’m sure it feels that way for them too. Reuters is reporting that ‘sources familiar with the situation’ (which is journalism code for employees speaking off the record) say that the deal has fallen apart and that Disney is now courting other suitors.
I feel bad for Bob and Harvey. It sounds like they just weren’t able to pull together the right package needed for this deal.
Is it really the same company that they left? How many people are working there still that worked under them? I would think the two things they really want are the name and the library of films with which they have a connection.
And who else thinks the library and name are important/profitable enough to buy?
Sounds like the Weinstein Brother's bid to reclaim the company they founded is over – http://bit.ly/b45DeM – who will buy Miramax?
