Wednesday Morning Roundup – Disney News and Links

You may not know, but Walt Disney World recruits many cast members from Haiti. So please keep them and their friends and family in your thoughts today. If you want to make an immediate impact, please donate to the International Red Cross. I’ve put out feelers to see what Disney is doing for their cast member community. There may be a specific fund set up to help Disney cast members with family in Haiti.

Now, on with the show…

The Orlando Sentinel has pictures of continuing construction at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. Lot’s of work still to be done.

The founders of the Baby Einstein videos have gone to court to get full access to the research that discredited their videos. Disney recently refunded owners of the videos, but the founders still stand behind their idea.

Producers of the ABC hit tv show LOST revealed…. absolutely nothing about the 6th and final season other than it won’t answer all the questions, but rather will answer most and is watchable by those who may not have watched quite as religiously as mega fans like me.

ABC’s Wednesday night comedy lineup has seen three shows renewed for next season – Cougar Town, Modern Family, and The Middle.

Sadly the soundtrack from The Princess & The Frog has been ruled ineligible for an Academy Award. Four original songs are, however, eligible.

Oren Aviv has resigned from his position as President of the Walt Disney Studios. This continues the clearing house by Rich Ross of all those who worked with Dick Cook. Disney is losing a lot of talented people at the Studios, that’s for sure.

Robert Zemeckis’ remake of the Yellow Submarine has cast the four Beatles. I really hope this movie gets canceled. Just a bad idea all around.

  1. Wow. The Beatles thing really does sound horrible. I think Zemeckis should go back to making, you know, movies that are actually good. With live-action.

  2. The Beatles Yellow Submarine is a horrible idea, but even worse is disqualifying the Princess and the Frog soundtrack while movies such as the Full Monty have been eligible with almost no original music.

Sounds like someone has it out for Randy Newman or Disney.

It also sounds like I won’t be watching the Oscars this year. When they prove that the AMPAS is willing to pull crap like this, it is time to stop caring about the Oscars.
