I’m definitely a fan of the growing culture known as ‘Steampunk’. It shares a Jules Verne-esque quality with a lot of the Tomorrowland elements Imagineers have used over the years. But one place I didn’t expect to see Steampunk was at EPCOT Center, the experimental prototype city of tomorrow.
These two elongated coin press machines are found just inside the World Showcase from Future World inside one of those stores. I’d love to have one of these at my home.
Alas, as far as I can tell, nothing lights up or spins. But they still look great.
Although neat looking, it doesn’t fit the motif of Epcot. Once again, Disney & it’s brilliance strikes again.
Yeah, Steampunk doesn’t fit Epcot. Epcot is one of the last vestiges of Disney’s true futurism, now absent in Tomorrowland. Epcot should be very modern, not backwards.
