Since I’ve lived in Orlando, Walt Disney World has held no Annual Passholder exclusive theme park parties, but they have done the occasional AP exclusive event or merchandise. Their latest promotion is four free lithographs, redeemable one set per household. The trick is you have to get the coupons from your Mickey Monitor and then visit each of the four parks to redeem the coupon before the promotion ends on March 14th or the lithographs are all given away.
There were only 10,000 printed, at Disneyland, that number would disappear in a few days, but at Walt Disney World where most of the annual passholders don’t live locally, there were still plenty of lithographs available when I went to the parks this last weekend.
It wasn’t a smooth process for me. I lost my first set, but luckily a friend from out state sent me their coupons so I was able to get the lithos for them. In three of the parks, the lithos are all available pretty close to the front of the park. But in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the store is not only at the back of the park (by the exit to the Studio Trams), but it shares a similar name with a merchandise cart in the animation courtyard. I ended up making a couple trips across the park during the parade while we sorted out the bad directions given by cast members at the front gate.
When I got home I twittered about the journey and Kurt responded that he never got his Mickey Monitor and never heard of the promotion. You can download the latest Mickey Monitor off the DisneyWorld AP site, but the coupon’s aren’t valid. I told him to call the AP hotline and see what they could do. Here was his report.
I called (407)560-PASS to attempt to figure out why I have never received the Mickey Monitor and the corresponding lithograph coupons. First off, there is no menu option for existing passholders to contact guest relations, so I punched 0. After at least 5 transfers, I finally got to the right person. They checked my information and for some reason I had not been marked to receive Mickey Monitor. They said they fixed it and I should receive the appropriate issue in a couple of weeks. That’s great and all except that THE COUPONS EXPIRE NEXT WEEK.
I ask what he can do to get me the coupons by Saturday or if I can pick them up. Nothing. I ask to speak to a supervisor with more power, and he says he is out. Now I called again, punched 0, and am currently on hold waiting for them to fix it. Ok, now they said the best thing I could do was fill out the contact form on the website. I asked for a supervisor, and he is being much more helpful. Mr. Supervisor said he is putting one in the mail for me today, and I should receive it before Saturday.
For anyone else’s future reference, call and ask for guest services. If needed, then request a supervisor.
Good luck Kurt.
Go to guest services in the MK (I presume it works at the others, but I KNOW it works in the MK because I just did it last week).
Tell them you forgot your Monitor at home and ask if you can have another. Show them your AP (and a photo ID probably) and they will be happy to give you a new one if they have any left.
That’s a good idea. Thanks!
We asked for new coupons at the DAK Guest Relations booth, but they were no help. Either they didn’t have any Mickey Express or it was policy. Based on the attitude of the GR host, we suspected it was policy.
I never received the latest Monitor either. I’ve always received them in the past. I wonder how many others didn’t get theirs?
