Along with the Magic Kingdom, Epcot had its birthday on October 1st. It’s been 24 years since the new concept in themed entertainment opened. Since then it has experienced a few changes to say the least. I really hope Disney decides to do something big for the 25th birthday (by contrast, this year the 1st passed with no fanfare what-so-ever at both the MK and Epcot) and that it doesn’t get swallowed up by the Year of a Million Dreams promotion.
In the meantime, here’s a look at an early 80s preview video for EPCOT Center. This and other historical videos, articles, and drawings should be required consumption for all current and future park managers and executives.
