I’m getting quite a few inquiries on the website looking for any statements from the Walt Disney World Resort on closings or program changes related to Ernesto. Here’s their official response from Guest Communications:
There is no immediate threat to the Walt Disney World(r) Resort from Tropical Storm Ernesto, though we continue to closely monitor its progress. As always, the safety of our Guests and Cast Members is our top priority. We have an extensive hurricane preparedness plan and are staffed and prepared for a realm of possible impacts that this type weather could have on our property.
As expected, Disney will do what’s important for the safety of their guest and that includes possibly closing one or more venues early as this looks to be an afternoon storm. Right now none of the major local attractions are announcing any closings, but if I was going to a water park, I’d head there early tomorrow.
Update: SeaWorld has annnounced they’re closing early on Wednesday at 6pm.
We just posted update to OrlandoSentinel.com Hurricane blog that theme parks, including Disney’s, plan to open Wednesday. John Cutter, Senior Editor/Online News
