Mimi Avins of The Los Angeles Times calls attention to Disney’s DVD inserts for "Eight Below" and "The Shaggy Dog."
By including the inserts, Disney and the American Kennel Club hope to prevent viewers from getting a pet of a particular breed based on impulse after having viewed the films, and thus avoid having the animals mistreated or abandoned when they prove to be more difficult to care for than their on-screen counterparts.
