At least two Disney publications, Vacation Magic and Disneyland Backstage Pass, for Disney Vacation Club members and Disneyland Annual Passholders respectively, are releasing teasers about the upcoming changes in Pirates of the Caribbean.
The magazines interview Disney Imagineer Kathy Rogers, who is overseeing the revamping of the ride in both the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom parks. She stresses that the changes are nothing to fear for fans of the ride as the new additions are woven seamlessly into the storyline. Jack Sparrow makes three different appearances while Barbossa is placed at the helm of the Wicked Wench. Davy Jones, who appears in this summers POTC sequel, will also make a bit of a splash.
The updates to the ride(s) also feature modern touches to the visual and audio effects, including a clearer dialog track that should enable riders to better follow the story as they sail through it, hopefully unscathed.
Both rides are scheduled to re-open in June.
M&Ms have special “pearl” and “gem” colors and candies to tie in with Pirates. Super cute!
