Mousekeeping

A few housekeeping notes. First, I’m thinking of switching my feeds from full to abridged. I know there are a few of you out there in feedland that read The Disney Blog. Alas, since so few click through I have no way of accurately counting. Plus, there is a huge trend for blog spammers to just skim feeds and post the posts whole on their site with no linkbacks. The only way I can think to stop that is to abridge the feeds. I’m still on the fence, so if you care to try and talk me out of it, the comments are open.

Second, I’ve neglected the ‘trip report’ section there on the right. I’ve started to update it again, but I’m not going to actively look for trip reports anymore. If I stumble across them I’ll post them or if you want to send me a link to yours that’s cool too. But now that I’m working full-time, plus writing, plus maintaining a few blogs, I just have to be more careful with my time.

Most of all thanks for reading.

  1. I’m going to be honest and tell you that if you switch to abridged I will probably unsubscribe, and that will make me sad. The whole reason I read feeds is because I don’t have the time to check each blog individually or click on titles to go to individual posts. so for me, abridged feeds are useless. I understand your concern though.

  2. “The whole reason I read feeds is because I don’t have the time to check each blog individually…” You’re kidding right? RSS and newsreaders have definitely changed the internet landscape, but you don’t have the time to check out one or two blogs? Until this day, I still go to Kottke.org everyday, because it’s one of my favourites and it’s just not the same.

  3. It would be more work to read your blog with shortened feeds, however I’m OK with it if it will help your traffic numbers and ad revenue.
