No. It’s not exit polls from Disneyworld workers who are voiting today, it’s the results from a similar contract vote at the original Disney themepark, Disneyland. According to this article in the OC Register, workers pointed their anger for higher healthcare costs at the healthcare industry and accepted higher health insurance rates in return for a guarantee of more hours for more members.
I’m going out on a limb and predicting this is the path votes will follow in Florida today.
Disneyland Foodservice workers also won these concessions:
- Shade for vending carts in the sun.
- Classifying workers in three scheduling groups to create more full-time jobs.
- More consistent scheduling and more consistent days off.
- Workers with more seniority are able to get more hours.
