Star Wars Rebels season 3 gets premiere date

The Ghost crew is back and so are a growing list of allies as the Rebellion begins to take shape. But one Star Wars legend could stand in their way. Season three of Star Wars Rebels will premiere Saturday, September 24th and with it a new character Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Fans of the Expanded Universe, now the Legends series, will remember Thrawn from the great novels by Timothy Zahn. Thrawn will also make an appearance in a new novel by Zahn titled simply “Thrawn,” this one in the new universe.

Here’s a plot synopsis and a preview:

“Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical, and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In Season Three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet — a direct assault on the Empire”

Lars Mikkelsen voices Grand Admiral Thrawn while Docto Who alum Tom Baker will voice an intriguing new character, the force-wise Bendu.

Before Season Three premieres, pick up Star Wars Rebels Season Two on Blu-ray and DVD starting August 30, 2016. (or pre-order now)

Star Wars Rebels returns at its new time Saturday, September 24 at 8:30 pm ET/PT on Disney XD.
