Disney’s Animal Kingdom Elephant Breeding Program Continues

One thing I think a lot of tourists miss on their trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom is that in addition to providing world class theme park entertainment, it’s also a leading AZA accredited zoo. As part of the AZA program Animal Kingdom participates in the breeding program.

Recently two elephants have been sent to the zoo in Columbia, SC and one elephant has been sent to Orlando to help bring some diversity to the gene pools in both herds.  (Link)
