Re: Animal Kingdom -- Employees said one reason the lushly landscaped park didn't open Saturday was because there were so many downed tree limbs. One said that, before the cleanup, it looked as if the sidewalks had been covered with mulch. The Orlando Sentinel reports in with the latest from the tourism industry around Orlando.
Disney World has 3 of its four parks open today. Animal Kingdom remains closed today due to staffing issues. There was only minor landscape damage reported. Of the water parks Typhoon Lagoon is closed today but Blizzard Beach is open. Downtown Disney is scheduled to be open. Universal Studios and Seaworld both have major debris

The Orlando Sentinel is running a 'weblog' of updates as Hurricane Charley bares down on Central Florida. Although the path is currently unpredictable, it looks to hit Orlando dead on. Winds are still above 140 MPH even after making landfall. Best wishes for an injury free and property damage free night for all.

Deb Wills excellent AllEarsNet has the update on the park's reaction to Charley. -- All four theme parks will offer Extra Magic Hour to Resort Guests beginning at 8am on August 13. World Showcase at Epcot will open at 10am. Visit the parks early as that will be the best part of the day weather-wise.
