With all the clubs in Pleasure Island shuttered, Disney has moved the nightly entertainment out onto the sidewalks with bands, magicians, and even living statues. Turns out, the living statues are pretty popular. Families stop and watch as the statue comes to life to interact… Read More »Living Statues attract Crowds at Downtown Disney

Over the weekend a few guests were allowed in among the cast member previews of New Fantasyland and I managed to grab this video of the magical transformation that occurs in the mysterious West Wing of the Beauty & The Beast themed Be Our Guest restaurant. The time to pay attention is when a thunderstorm rolls in, first the rose drops a petal, then the prince’s portrait flashes to include the beast during a a bolt of lightning.
Sorry for the shakey bits there. Neither effect is all that special technology wise, but when placed within the room straight out of the movie, albeit set up for dining, the feeling is magical.

Disney Parks and Resorts is out with their next major promotion. The focus is on presenting something new, exciting, and magical each week to reinforce the idea that you must travel to a Disney park now while you can still make family memories that last a lifetime. We looked at a few of the Commercials earlier, but here is the full press release:
Guests will find an extra sprinkle of pixie dust each week when they visit Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts next year, Disney officials announced today.
While 2013 is already a momentous year for Disney Parks –with New Fantasyland as the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history at Walt Disney World Resort and the first full year of a reimagined Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort – Disney today unveiled Limited Time Magic: 52 weeks of magical experiences big and small that appear, then disappear as the next special surprise debuts.
Part of the new Fantasyland expansion is a real world version of Gaston’s Tavern from Beauty & The Beast. While the food offerings are basically a glorified food cart, the interior feels very much like it is part of the movie. I do have some quibbles, the animal trophies are all too small and there wasn’t enough seating, but there are indeed antlers in all of his decorating and lots of little touches and nods from and to the film.
I do like the Pork Shank instead of a Turkey Leg. Nice touch.
I posted my tour of Be Our Guest restaurant yesterday, and now Walt Disney Imagineers have released their video tour of the beautiful dining facility. We also get a few of our first glimpses of the mysterious West Wing. If you found that beautiful, you… Read More »Be Our Guest Restaurant – Imagineer Video Tour
