Inside Gaston’s Tavern from Beauty & The Beast at the Magic Kingdom

LeFou's Stein

A stein of LeFou’s brew

Part of the new Fantasyland expansion is a real world version of Gaston’s Tavern from Beauty & The Beast. While the food offerings are basically a glorified food cart, the interior feels very much like it is part of the movie. I do have some quibbles, the animal trophies are all too small and there wasn’t enough seating, but there are indeed antlers in all of his decorating and lots of little touches and nods from and to the film.

I do like the Pork Shank instead of a Turkey Leg. Nice touch.

Inside Be Our Guest – New Fantasyland’s French Restaurant

Be Our Guest Sign

New Fantasyland opened for its “Dress Rehearsal” this weekend and many guests were drawn across the stone bridge to foot of Beast’s Castle. Inside the mountain is the “Be Our Guest” restaurant, which opened its lobby to allow guests a sneak peek at the ballroom and entry hall. I took a quick video and some photos, of course.

The restaurant’s spacious interior re-creates the look of the film in great detail. Lunch guests enter through the Armor Hallway, where six suits of armor stand along the wall (listen closely for an occasional whisper from the metal figures), and into the Beast’s Parlor to place lunch orders on five guest-activated terminals. For dinner, guests enter directly into the majestic Ballroom.

Gaston Announced to Appear in Belle’s Village

I think we can all agree that it makes perfect sense for a walk-around Gaston to appear in Belle Gaston’s Village outside Gaston’s Tavern and next to Gaston’s Statue… and Disney World today confirmed that would happen with the photo below: Via the Disney Parks… Read More »Gaston Announced to Appear in Belle’s Village

Storybook Circus opens Big Top and Fastpass Distribution

Storybook Circus was the first area of the expanded Fantasyland area to open a few attractions at the Magic Kingdom. The backstory for the area is that a small circus has come to the small midwest town of Carolwood Park. Over the last few weeks, many of the final details have been added, but the land wasn’t completely open yet.

It’s still not completely open, but yesterday they opened Big Top Souvenirs and the new Fastpass distribution tent for the land. All that remains now is a little landscaping and Pete’s Silly Sideshow, the character meet and greet for the land.

When Imagineering originally wanted to redo the Toontown Fair area, the numbers folk at the park asked that they keep the large tent store since it’s one of the best performing stores per square foot in the park. So the imagineers compromised, give us the budget to really make the tent themed to a circus and we’ll redo our plans for the area to keep the tents.
