James Monroe Iglehart is the Tony award winning originator of The Genie on Disney’s Aladdin the Musical and a huge Disney fan. In a new video posted to GMA’s YouTube channel, Iglehart entertains fans with a special Disney medley recorded right in his home.
The medley of Disney hits include favorites like The Lion King’s “Hakuna Matata,” Hercules’ “Go the Distance,” and The Genie’s Aladdin show-stopper, “Friend Like Me.” That’s a welcome bit of pixie dust given the current state of affairs.
Monroe-Iglehart’s impressive professional musical credits include his current role as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamilton.” Last summer he played the trainer Phil in the Public Works adaption of Disney’s “Hercules.”
JM Iglehart also recently participate in the fundraiser for BCEFA to help support Broadway actors and crew who have been furloughed during this coronavirus related closure.

My favorite Aladdin song is ‘Proud of Your boy.’ It gets me to cry every time I hear it.
