We’re all invited to the world premiere of a new Mickey & Minnie Mouse cartoon short at the Chinese Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Of course, something magical happens and we get to step into the wacky world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short. That’s the premise of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway a new attraction that will have its debt on March 4th. With less than a month to go we’re getting our first look at the attraction’s beautiful classic neon-style animated marquee.
Walt Disney World installed the glamous looking marquee last week. It feature hand-crafted animated neon Mickey and Minnie Mouse characters along with beautiful blinking bulbs and a other animated elements. It fits in with the early Hollywood Era the Chinese Theater represents. In fact, the design elements for the sign were all taken from previous signs that have been a part of the history of the real Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
“We want to make sure that we’re providing an amazing marquee that really celebrates the entrance into a great attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios,” said Art Director Phillip Hillis.
Here’s a quick look behind-the-scenes at the creation of the Marquee:
While the sign won’t be lit for day guests until the attraction opens, Disney did make this cute little video of Goofy turning on the lights.
We like how the sign ties into the history of Hollywood, and adds more neon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. That’s a look that’s unique to DHS among all the other Disney theme parks.
What do you think about the new marquee for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway?
