The world of Star Wars fandom is vast and passionate. Disneyland is tapping into some of that passion by inviting a few of the biggest fans to join the Resistance and ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Today’s story is about a real hero of the Resistance named Angel.
Angel was born with a congenital limb defect and found in Star Wars a movie that treated others with disabilities like hers with positivity and respect. Like her, Luke Skywalker was missing part of his limb and he was able to become a great Jedi. That was a world in which she could belong.
Disneyland invited Angel, and other heroes, to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and share her powerful story.
That was a powerful story and just one example of how fandom (Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, etc) can bring us together. Something we firmly believe in here at The Disney Blog.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion opens to the public on Friday January 17. You can read our guide to getting in the virtual queue or watch our exclusive on-ride POV video (with slight spoilers) from the identical Walt Disney World version of the attraction.
Let us know if you’re heading to Disneyland to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and what your expectations are.
