Season 1 of the breakout live-action Disney+ hit Star Wars: The Mandalorian debuted its final episode, I’m sorry they call them Chapters, today and acclaim is almost universal. The suits at Disney obviously saw a good thing coming as they’ve already put a second season of The Mandalorian into production.
Today we learned from show runner, producer, and writer Jon Favreau (who even gets to direct two ‘chapters’ of season 2), that the show will be returning to Disney+ in the fall of 2020. He wasn’t more specific than that.
Neat maquette though. Not as cute as Baby Yoda (aka The Child) though.
I would expect somewhere between 8 and 10 chapters of the Bounty Hunter focused series’ second season. But then, if there is one thing Jon Favreau has managed to consistently deliver in The Mandalorian, it’s surprises. So who knows. We could get 4 two-hour long episodes.
We have some early rumors about what to expect in season 2, including a some familiar characters. The show is set after five years after Return of the Jedi, so there are plenty of original saga characters around to partake if Lucasfilm and the writers wanted to include them.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal along with Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, Julia Jones, and Ming-Na Wen.
You can watch the entire 8 episode series right now on Disney+. It’s worth the price of a month, but you can probably knock it out in a weekend of binging if you want.
