Walt Disney Imagineers have been hard at work applying all their skills and trades to set a new standard for Disney attractions with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Now the wait is almost over as the attraction opens officially December 5.
We’ll be at the media event today and hope to sneak in a few rides, but in the meantime we were provided some video highlights from the attraction. The video starts in the queue and proceeds through the story as Resistance supporters, that’s you, encounter the First Order in a Star Destroyer.
Beware, spoilers ahead:
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set after the battle of Crait where the resistance stay its main fighting force devestated to just a handful of troopers. The Resistance has now fled with General Leia Organa to an undisclosed location.
Meanwhile, Kylo Red leads the First Order on a hunt to track down and eliminate all Resistance supporters on the remote outer rim planet of Batuu. But with the help of Resistance spy Vi Moradi, The Resistance is searching out new recruits, where is where you come in. Will you join the cause and help save the galaxy from tyranny and the First Order? If so, get ready for an adventure.
Clocking in at 15 minutes of ride time, but really 30+ minutes if you include all the pre-show experiences in queue, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a new type of attraction that will blur the lines between what’s real and what’s fantasy. Your jaw will drop as you take in the sweeping epic scope of the attraction and encounter surprises around every turn.

You’ll also find many cast members from the recent Star Wars films “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker” make appearances in the attraction including Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), and Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux). In fact many scenes were filmed during the production of the above films.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance officially opens to guests on December 5, 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and on January 17, 2020 at Disneyland in Anaheim.
