The France pavilion in EPCOT is getting a new movie – the
“Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along.” The animated movie is a ‘twisted tale’ version of the original movie with a slight change in the retelling that purports to be how things actually went down.
Disney asked the original producer of “Beauty and the Beast” (both animated and live action versions) to return and direct and produce the new film. It also features narration from Angela Lansbury, who played Mrs. Potts in the original film. Jesse Corti the original voice of LeFou also returned to record new dialog for the film.
Amazingly Disney brought back some of the original animators to add new hand-drawn animation for the sing-along short. There are 5 songs from the film in the 14 minute movie.
The version we saw was a sneak peek and some effects were not finished. However, I found it very charming. The more you love the film or are willing to play along and be young at heart, the more fun you’ll have.
The new animation is mostly focused around LeFou who plays the role of matchmaker in this film and provides most of the comic relief in the film.
Disney was inspired by the spirit of the “Frozen sing-along” over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to create the new film. The new sing-along will run in rotation with “Impressions de France,” which will receive an upgrade to 4K projection.
“Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” will debut Jan. 17, 2020, at EPCOT on the same day the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts begins.
