Yes. EPCOT is finally getting some love and attention in the form of a new look for future world, new attractions, and a new festival center that will loom over the park like a hovering spacecraft. We stopped by on the last day of 2019’s Food and Wine Festival to have a look around.
Not only was a lot of the demolition work on the old Communicore West buildings, there were walls just about everywhere. A careful eye might even spot some Christmas decorations installed ahead of the Festival of the Holidays that will open after Thanksgiving on the 29th.
Part of the work getting from today to the finished transformation involves giving guests a way to navigate around the core of future world where a lot of work will be going on adding new attractions, landscaping, fountains, and that festival center that will tower over the park with views of world showcase and the three neighborhoods of Future World – Discovery, Nature, and Celebration.
Behind many of the walls phase one includes adding new wide walkways from the front of the park around the Celebration neighborhood where the the majority of the new construction will take place. Various other little infrastructure projects are underway along with some major demolition.
There’s a lot to see in the above video. A few of the highlights are included in these photos below too.
