As Disney’s parks continue their celebration of Mickey Mouse, it’s the 90th anniversary of his and Minnie’s big screen debut, they’re still rolling out even more fun for guests. This April, Disney California Adventure will welcome “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” to its Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land.
The 3-D movie is a musical-fantasy starring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and other favorite Disney Characters. It currently plays in four other Disney theme parks around the world, DCA will be the fifth location.
As the show starts, Donald Duck is preparing the orchestra for Mickey, but he just can’t resist taking up the conductor’s baton and Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat himself. Of course, things go downhill from there and Donald is plunged into a crazy dream world with the audience along for the ride. The attraction highlights some of Disney’s most iconic animated musical sequences—from “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid,” to “Peter Pan” and “Aladdin.”
It’s been a while since we have been inside the Sunset Showcase Theater, so we’re not sure if they’ll be able to add some of the 4-D effects that come at the movie’s other locations. The announcement keeps mentioning 3D, so probably not. That’s also how the movie works at Disneyland Paris.
To make room for Mickey’s PhilharMagic, DCA will say goodbye to Muppet-Vision 3-D. It’s unknown if this is a permanent change or just a limited run to celebrate Mickey Mouse.
