A powerful new superhero emerges from the past in the new trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel.” The trailer just debuted on ESPN during Monday Night Football and tells the origin story of Carol Danvers who is made a powerful being by the Kree race (we know them from both “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Marvel Agents of SHIELD).

Ah yes, Carol Danvers’ cat makes another appearance. It’s name is Chewie in the comics. We hear it has a new name in the film – Goose. That has to be after the Top Gun character given the Air Force pilot origin story for Danvers. Which makes sense since this movie is set in the 1990s.

The trailer also spends a lot of time following Danvers as a member of the Free Starforce and explaining it to Nick Fury. I wonder if we’re going to find out how Fury loses his eye.

personally, I doubt that an Air Force pilot would name their pet after a fictional Navy pilot, but maybe that’s just me.
