With the premiere of Star Wars: Resistance just about a week away, we’re not getting our first extended look at the animated TV series coming to Disney Channel. Set before The Force Awakens, the show will feature high-flying adventure, heart-pumping action, and appearances by some of our favorite characters and locations from the Star Wars Galaxy, including Poe Dameron, BB-8, Captain Phasma, and Starkiller Base.

Now that’s an excitement packed trailer. I did see General Leia Organa in there. Her voice is being provided by Rachel Butera who was under fire in the news yesterday for mocking a rape victim who was testifying in Washington DC. Butera later apologized.
One of the big concerns I’ve heard Star Wars fans express is that for a show about the Resistance, there wouldn’t be much actual resisting against the First Order. I think this extended sneak peek puts that fear to rest. There will be plenty of fighting back against the dark side.
The other big concern would be that the anime heavy style of animation would make it seem to much like a kiddie cartoon. I think we can put that fear to rest too. There’s a ton of great action, emotion, and humor for all ages to enjoy. Yes, it does remind me vague of Robotech, but that’s not a bad thing.
The first episode of Star Wars: Resistance airs October 7th. In it X-wing pilot Kazuda Xiono finds himself being recruited for the Resistance, but gets in over his head when Poe Dameron assigns him to a remote fueling station to spy on the First Order. Then, after Kaz boasts about being the best pilot around, he is forced to compete in a dangerous sky race.
Guest stars include Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) as Poe Dameron, Jim Rash (“Community”) and Bobby Moynihan (“DuckTales”) as Flix and Orka, respectively.
About Star Wars: Resistance
“Star Wars Resistance,” a new animated adventure series set before the events of “The Force Awakens,” follows Kazuda Xiono (“Kaz”), a young pilot recruited by the Resistance’s Poe Dameron and BB-8 and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. While undercover aboard The Colossus, a massive aircraft re-fueling platform on an outer rim water planet, Kaz works as a mechanic and lives with Poe’s long-time friend Yeager – a veteran pilot who operates a starship repair shop run by his crew: Tam, Neeku and their old battered astromech droid, Bucket. In his quest to become the best pilot in the galaxy, Kaz’s journey with his new friend BB-8 finds him facing off against stormtroopers and pirates all the while struggling to maintain his secret mission from his newfound family.
Watch it on Disney Channel and in the DisneyNOW app beginning Oct 7, 2018.
