With EPCOT’s 35th Anniversary just over a month away, and given the events in the news this week, we all need a little more of what EPCOT stands for in our lives. Thanks to pianist Gijs Van Winkelhof, if you can’t visit right now, you can at least listen to a beautiful piano medley of songs from across the history of the park. Winkelhof thinks this music should not be forgotten, and we agree.
Watch here:
The Dutch pianist has been playing piano since he taught himself how at 3-years old. After graduating from college with a degree in composition, Winkelhof has written songs for TV and the stage. His performances have taken him around the world.
Winkelhof hopes the songs bring back lots of memories and wants the video to be a gift to the Disney community. We’re happy to accept.
Here are all the songs he worked into the medley:
1 Legacy – Entrance Area Music
2 New Horizons – Horizons (1983-1999)
3 Spaceship Earth (2008)
4 Tomorrow’s Child – Spaceship Earth (1986 – 1994)
5 Ellen’s Energy Adventure theme – Universe of Energy (1996 – 2017)
6 Universe of Energy – Universe of Energy (1982 – 1996)
7 Energy (You Make The World Go ‘Round) – Universe of Energy (1982 – 1996)
8 Soarin’ – Soarin’ (2005)
9 Listen to the Land – Listen to the Land (1982 – 1983)
10 One Little Spark – Journey into Imagination (1983)
11 Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit – Kitchen Kabaret (1982 – 1994)
12 The Three Caballeros – Gran Fiesta Tour starring The Three Caballeros (2007)
13 Canada (You’re a Lifetime Journey) – O Canada! (1982)
14 Golden Dream – The American Adventure (1982)
15 We Go On – IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth (1999)
Do you have a favorite EPCOT tune? With 35 years of history, there are so many great songs to choose from. It’s a very close battle between the last two songs in his medley for me.
Update: want more? Winkelhof has other great medleys on his YouTube channel including this one of popular Disney movie and theme park tunes:
