When Marvel and Disney first partnered with Netflix on a slate of TV shows that would be available only through the streaming service, there were many questioning if shows could be a success without a network for distribution. Since then, the number of cord-cutters and cord-nevers has grown and so has the audience for Marvel’s shows on Netflix.
We have now see series for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The long term goal for Marvel on Netflix has been to combine these heroes of these four series into a meta-series “The Defenders.” Now Netflix has teased that show with this found footage video:
If you notice some numbers at the end of the video, it says 08:18:20:17, which it turns out is the premiere date for the series, August 18, 2017. Pretty clever Netflix! If you’re still catching up on watching all the shows, like me, at least you have a date you need to be ready for now.
The Defenders is expected to be a mini-series. The four New York-based heroes will join forces to take on a mysterious new evil. As is the tradition with Netflix, all the episodes will be released simultaneously, which means get ready to binge!
