Rich Williamson is an award-winning film maker out of Toronto Canada. He’s usually known for tackling social issues subjects, but he’s turned his eye to a galaxy far, far away with this take on what an Obi-Wan Kenobi “Star Wars Story” movie could entail.
Blending footage from the Star Wars saga and Ewan McGregor footage from a recent art film “Last Days in the Desert,” in which McGregor played Jesus wandering the wilderness, Williamson has made a moody, dark trailer for an exploration of exactly what Kenobi was doing on Tatooine for the 20 years between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope.”
Imagine the pressure of watching over the last chance the galaxy has for a future of light instead of dark while dealing with the impact of the role you played in the downfall of the Republic and the end of the Jedi Order. It’s fertile time for some great storytelling.
In the comments section for the video creator Rich Williamson says, “I’d love if Star Wars started doing different genres, especially with the “Star Wars Story” films. One film might be a heist movie, one a horror, this one more of a meditative Western. Shake it up.”
McGregor has said he’d be willing to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi if asked. Right now we know we have stand alone films on Rogue One and Han Solo, Kenobi seems like the logical next film, right?
Star Wars fans, would you like to see a Kenobi Star Wars Story film in theaters?
