We’re just about two months away from the release of “The Good Dinosaur” — Pixar’s second film of 2015. Disney marketing is taking it slow, apparently cautious about stepping on the good feelings everyone still has from Pixar’s first film of 2015 — “Inside Out.” The Marketing team has only released two trailers for “The Good Dinosaur” both of which show off the typical high quality animation we expect from Emeryville. Unfortunately, we don’t know much more than the basic plot of the film.
We know the comet never killed the dinosaurs, so humans and the giant beasts co-exist on the planet. There’s a young Apatosaurus named Arlo who ‘adopts’ a young feral human boy he calls Spot. But we haven’t heard any dialogue from the movie at all. That is until now.
A new international trailer (this one has Spanish titles and voice over but with an English soundtrack) gives us our first chance to hear Arlo (voiced by Raymond Ochoa), his father (voiced by Jeffrey Wright), Spot, and the tyrannosaurus Rex named Butch (voiced by Sam Elliott).
There are some great new scenes in that trailer which reveal a bit more about the story. We learn that Arlo gets separated from his family in a storm, which is how he encounters Spot and learns to survive in the wild. Along they way he gets taken in by a pack of Tyrannosaurus Rexes. There is already at least one emotional ‘Pixar’ moment in the trailer, so it looks like you’ll need to bring a supply of kleenexes to the theater.
Are you looking forward to seeing more from Pixar this year?

I saw the longer trailer at D23 last month. This movie will be great!
One scene shows Arlo with the T-Rex family confronting raptor “poachers” of their very large long horned and shaggy cattle (that’s right). One assumes that they are the family’s dinner-on-the-hoof!
