If you know me, you know I love wearing my Hawaiian shirt collection. The fact that my current employer allows me to wear them at work was practically the strongest selling point for the job. However, I have absolutely nothing on John Lasseter who has a collection of over 1,000 Hawaiian shirts, many of which are Disney or Pixar themed. I only have about two dozen (some of which I no longer fit or have become threadworn).
One of the things I keep coming back to with Lasseter, is that he’s as big a Disney and Animation fan as any of us in the fan community. He really shows that in moments like this. Btw, you have to watch for the brilliant April Fools joke Lasseter’s wife plays on him.
A big thanks to San Francisco Chronicle reporter Peter Hartlaub for this interview with John Lasseter showing the closet where the Oscar-winning animator keeps his 374 festive shirts separated by subject.
