Part of Chris Colfer’s appeal as Kurt Hummel on Glee is that even when he’s down, his sense of joy about just being alive shines through. When I saw his photo at Disneyland hanging out with Pinocchio, I wasn’t sure if it was that, or if Colfer was a genuine Disney fan. It appears to be latter.
GleeFan found a report in EW where Colfer talks about how the deal came to be.
The screenplay, based on the children’s book The Leftover Little Witch by Florence Laughlin, revolves around a young witch named Felina who is taken in by a normal family after falling from her malfunctioning broomstick on the night of Halloween. “I got the book on a Friday night and I adapted the screenplay by Sunday night. I got so into it. I wrote like a 102 page screenplay in two days,” says Chris about the project, which was brought to his attention after his agent’s husband bought the rights to the book and knew of Chris’s desire to write.
Colfer appears to have a great Hollywood career ahead of him. I wish him luck.
