Disney World has recently decided that it will stop holding endurance racing events for outside agencies. Instead they’ve built up a calendar of events that will allow any fitness enthusiast to find a time of the year to run in an event and the participant can decide which charity to support.
Disney Sports recently introduced a new 13.1 mile nighttime race that features the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival as the finish line. The Disney Wine & Dine Half-Marathon Weekend debuts Oct. 1-2, 2010 at Walt Disney World Resort with a two-day expo, a 5K family fun run, kids races and a nighttime half marathon on a never-before-trekked course through multiple Disney theme parks, with the finish line inside the Epcot Food & Wine Festival for an exclusive after-hours party.
The new race is part of the Endurance Sports Series at Walt Disney World Resort, which gives recreational athletes of all ages and abilities the chance to walk, jog, run, bike and swim their way “around the world.” From marathons to road races to triathlons, athletes from across the country and around the world compete to stay in shape, achieve personal best times and raise donations for charitable causes.
