Finally caught Studio DC: Almost Live on my DVR. Turns out it’s not the return to glory for the Muppets that we all hoped for. However, it did show signs of the old charm. The characters are still there in fine form, but they can only react against the talent they’re performing with. In this case, a litany of Disney Channel’s current stars.
The only scenes that really sparkled were Dylan and Cole and the cast of The Suite Life with Gonzo and Kermit and Ashley Tisdale with Kermit and Miss Piggy. The other performances left me flat.
If you would like to see for yourself there are a few more rebroadcasts left.

Hopefully we’ll see more of the Muppets with stars other than the typical Disney Channel star of the moment list.
I really liked the Suite Life and HSM segments, but the musical segments (
Hannah MontanaMiley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers) really threw me off as did the whole “almost live” theme. When the Swedish chef spoke English, I was thrown. I didn’t know what to think, but the rest of the cast brought it back together.
I’m with you guys. It wasn’t nearly as good as the old show. I got a huge kick out of the High School Musical skit. I might have enjoyed the Suite Life more if I watched the show, but it was still fun.
Here’s hoping that any more episodes we get are much better.
Here’s hoping that any more episodes we get are more Muppet-centric.
