The land portion of MouseFest 2007
begins today. Event registration is mostly closed, but everyone is
welcome to the MegaMouseMeet on Saturday. I’m going to try and be there
for at least a bit and look forward to meeting some of you.
Anne Sweeney, co-chairman of media networks at the Walt Disney Company and president of the Disney-ABC Television Group, was recently named the most powerful woman in entertainment by the Hollywood Reporter. It’s too bad Bob Iger is so young, I don’t expect Sweeney will stick around long enough to see if she’ll be his successor.
Disneyland just escaped from one housing complex cropping up in the Anaheim Resort District, now the OC Register is reporting that another developer wants to put homes inside the borders that designate tourist oriented businesses.
Disney calls its cruise ships home and commits to at least another year (or more) departing from Port Canaveral. They’ve also decided to mix up their Caribbean cruise ports a bit by adding in St. Croix and Tortola. At some point in the future two new cruise ships will be added to Disney’s fleet. Right now that’s scheduled for 2011. I wonder if it will be that long before Disney adds another west coast or Mediterranean cruise to its schedule.
This Kim Possible papercraft from Ninjatoes is simply amazing. Even more amazing is you can download the plans and build one on your own for free.
Disney Acquires iParenting Media.
No word on how much they were paid for their 100K visitors a month. The
Disney Blog get that many visitors a month… Not that it’s for
sale…. I’m just saying.
On a sports related note, I’m wondering if Disney is pursuing a UFL franchise in Orlando. Seems like a good fit. Disney has a history of starting up franchises that later turn into champions (Mighty Ducks anyone?). Maybe Disney needs another football movie to get motivated. Anyway, if you want to vote to get a team in Orlando, time is running out.
