The Animation Pavilion inside California Adventure is now featuring the Toy Story (II) Zoetrope created for the Pixar: 20 Years of Animation exhibition. The Zoetrope features a series of spinning discs, each with a different 3-D animation (parachuting army men, Jessie spinning a rope, Buzz walking on a ball, Woody riding Bullseye, Wheezy and an LGM jumping on a see-saw, and an LGM waving.
Be aware that the animation effect occurs because the spinning of the wheels is timed with a strobe light.
A big thanks to Sean Rouse for posting this to YouTube. No word on how long this will be on display at California Adventure.
I swear I got slightly nauseous watching that video, but I get motion sick easy…haha
The technology behind it is cool
It’s not just the video. While I was there, a couple of people watching the zoetrope also got queezy.
p.s. John — thanks for the shout-out.
