I’m proud to say I’ve ridden Animal Kingdom’s newest attraction Expedition Everest more than a few times. It’s a thrilling ride that deserves it’s place in the pantheon of the Disney Mountain Range (Space, Splash, Matterhorn, Big Thunder). But my feat is nothing compared to that of Yeti Man. One Disney fan has ridden the attraction over 500 times, often more than 50 times in just one day.
A few months ago I was standing in the single rider line, trying to maximize a fastpass into two rides, when I had the fortune to meet James from St. Petersberg (well near St Pete anyway). At 45 he had retired from Bricklaying and was comfortable letting his wife bring home some dough doing insurance. We got to talking about Disney, Orlando, and Expedition Everest. He played it cool and I had no inkling he was this obsessed fan of the ride. But it turns out, he is Yeti Man.
Yeti Man and couple other folks who obsess about Disney attractions are profiled in this Miami Herald article.
Darn, I was hoping the article would have a picture. I think I may have been in the single-riders line with him also. Pre-baby, of course. :)
I was fortunate to have ridden with the Yeti Man this past August. I am only sorry that I didn’t purchase a picture of us after the ride as he flexed his biceps.
In addition to giving me the history of the ride, he even showed off his tattoo.
