Just the other day I was wondering what ever happened to Rick Moranis. He played the bumbling inventor in Disney’s Honey I Shrunk the Kids movie and provided the voice of Rutt the Moose in Disney’s Brother Bear animated feature (and it’s upcoming sequel). He has also had roles in many other movies (Ghostbusters, Space Balls, Little Shop of Horrors). He hailed from our great neighbor to the north and was part of the SCTV group that revolutionized comedy in clubs and on TV.
Well, seems Rick took a little acting break a few years ago to raise his children and along the way he became a country music star. Yep, you read that right. He even has an album "Agoraphobic Cowboy" nominated for a country grammy. This article in Billboard has more, including an interview.
The "Agoraphobic Cowboy" album is a mix of country, rockabilly, bluegrass, and comedy (yeah, he couldn’t leave that behind). But the samples I heard were hilarious both for the lyrical qualities and their spoofing. Also listen to this Elvis Mitchell interview on KCRW’s The Treatment from last December.
