Hold everything. Seems the decision to open on 3000+ screens has worked. "Chicken Little" earned $40.1 million on it’s opening weekend. That pales in comparison to last year’s $70.5 million done by The Incredibles on the same weekend, but that was a different year for movies and from a studio that had 5 very successful CG+animated films under its belt.
Turns out "Chicken Little" was Disney’s second-best animated opening ever, behind "The Lion King" with $40.9 million (not adjusted for inflation and ticket price increases, of course). If you saw the film, I’d love to hear what you thought of it. Will it have wings and legs or never get off the ground?
