There has been talk of a new major theme park springing up in Central Florida with a possible opening date of 2007. The only company to have announced such an intention is Paidia’s DestiNations Theme Park and Resort. This 140 acre development would be located just minutes from Walt Disney World’s main entrance and looks to echo the world travelling theme of Disney’s Epcot.
Expected to cost $300 million (by comparison, Disney’s California Adventure cost around $900 million) only sketchy details have been released so far. I’ll let you know when I learn more.
Will this park ever become a reality? Some pundits say no and there is a long laundry list of planned attractions that never saw the light and humidity of central Florida’s day. Like most major development plans, I’ll believe it when I see it. But I know the folks at Paidia are still working hard to make this dream into a hard fact and I wish them luck!
