A flurry of stories at the Orlando Sentinel mention ongoing upgrades to existing attractions and a few new attractions set to open. The first update will be to to the new Stitch Encounter attraction. Guest surveys were showing it was just a tad too scary for the wee folk. This was due to an extended period of near complete darkness. Hopefully Imagineering will take advantage of this update to tighten up the story some. The ending is very week.
There is also a rumor going around that Mission Space at Epcot has been updated. MS features astronaut training in a centrifical spinner that results is high g-forces and a sensation of movement. When the ride first opened there were lots of reports of guests being hospitalized after riding the attraction. However, that number has since leveled off to a bare trickle. Was the ride toned down, are more people getting message to stay away if you are motion sensative, or is there a third possibility not mentioned in the article. Some people have suggested that the actual ride is not so bad, but the rumors of extreme forces were causing people to react as if they actually were experiencing them. Who knows.
Lastly Disney will open two new attractions this spring with soft openings rumored to be starting as soon as this month. Look for Soarin’ at Epcot; and the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney-MGM Studios to officially open in April and May.
