Union officials leafleted the opening of Disney’s NYC ‘World of Disney’ store yesterday.
“We knew we had to do something to get the company’s attention,” said Juleeann Jerkovich, secretary-treasurer of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union Local 1625, which is one of six unions that make up the Service Trades Council Union. “It’s time to take this out of Orlando.”
Alright, you got your measly little press coverage. Anyone who really gives a damn about the union contract with Disney World is probably already aware of the issue. Here’s an idea, and I’m tossing this out cautiously, why not have the union officials do guest spots on all the Disney Fan Websites. Open up a dialog with the people who love the park, win them over to your side, then enlist the power of tens of thousands of Disney fans in your cause. This idea worked very well for some presidential candidates.
If the websites wanted they could offer a chance for Disney officials to rebut, but I imagine that the Union officials will find healthy opposition among the existing Disney fan base. Still, it would be interesting to see.
Newsflash! Service Trades Council sent delegation to PA. to the primere of Disney On Ice Mickey and Minnie’s Magical Journey on Oct.14-15 where the unions in the Service Strades Council we’re going to hand out informational flyers after the Service Trades Council protested in N.Y., and no progress was made on Oct.12-13 at the negotiations between the company and the Service Trades Council.
