Will Poulter Cast as Adam Warlock in Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’

Will Poulter

The end credits of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 teased the appearance of Adam Warlock, albeit in his cocoon, but it appears the character will be in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 with the casting news of Will Poulter in the role.

Poulter, an English actor, is best known for dramatic roles in The Revenant, The Maze Runner, and Detroit, as well as the current Hulu limited series Dopesick. He also was a comedic stand-out in We Are The Millers.

The character of Adam Warlock is an artificially created being that first appeared in Fantastic Four #66 (June 1967) as his original version “Him.” Upon his rebirth, “Him” was renamed as Warlock.

Throughout the comics, Adam Warlock’s artificial genetic structure has given him bone and muscle tissue that are denser than a normal human’s, along with superhuman strength, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes. His multi-compartmental brain also grants him cosmic awareness.

The character was originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 - Ayesha and Warlock in the cocoon

I’m not sure how he’ll fit in GOTG3, but that GOTG2 end credit scene has the golden Ayesha stating she has created something to help destroy the Guardians once and for all, while looking at the cocoon across the room.

Marvel has not commented on the casting, but GOTG director James Gunn confirmed it on his social media:

Speaking of Gunn, he has also mentioned on his social media he is done writing and starting to storyboard, which means filming is in the near future.

But first, we’ll see the Guardians characters in Thor: Love and Thunder, currently due in theaters next year in May. If you remember, Thor left Earth at the end of Avengers: Endgame with the Guardians on the Milano, so they’ll be part of his adventure before they meet Warlock.
