LEGOLAND Florida Readies World of Chima, First New Land

CAVORA-top1

LEGOLAND Florida is getting ready to reveal its first major expansion later this week. The World of Chima is a tie-in to the new Cartoon Network animated series LEGO Legends of Chima. This video shows some of the final stages of construction focusing on a dramatic “floating” centerpiece, called Mount Cavora. The installation, which will tower 55 feet above the attraction, marks the final major construction milestone ahead of the area’s July 3 opening.

Mount Cavora, based on The LEGO Legends of Chima storyline, is a mystical floating mountain that provides animals with the energy source CHI via its waterfalls. The attraction structure will cascade water into the interactive splash-battle family ride, The Quest for CHI, soaking everyone below. The Quest for CHI will be one of three new attractions at LEGOLAND Florida when The World of Chima opens July 3.Read More »LEGOLAND Florida Readies World of Chima, First New Land

Car Masters Weekend Returns to Downtown Disney for 3rd Year of Retro Fun

carmasters-pixar1

Downtown Disney is about to undergo its own extreme makeover into Disney Springs, so June 15-16 may be the last year to really enjoy the great atmosphere of Car Masters Weekend until about 2017. If that’s not a good enough reason to get you out to see the cars, there is always the merchandise, special meet and greets, and the Pixar Cars themed fun. Plus this year they’re throwing in new fun from Splitsville and La Nouba by Cirque du Soliel and more.

Car Masters Weekend, now in its third year, is also the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day. The Downtown Disney West Side area will be filled with classic cars and special entertainment as only Disney can arrange. Featuring all things “Cars,” the event showcases meet and greets with Disney•Pixar “Cars” and “Cars 2″ characters, a sock hop at Splitsville, select discounts on food and shopping, and more exciting entertainment for the whole family.Read More »Car Masters Weekend Returns to Downtown Disney for 3rd Year of Retro Fun

What’s Behind The Disney Parks Ticket Price Increase

Wizard_Hat

As they say on ABC’s hit show “Once Upon A Time,” magic has a price. If the magic you want to experience is one of Disney’s theme parks, that price has just increased… again. This time with tax and fees it now costs more than $101 to buy a one day, one park ticket to Disney World. Disneyland is a little cheaper at $92 (no sales tax on theme park tickets in California). With attendance at both resorts still very strong, I’m not surprised by the move.

At Disneyland the cost to buy a one park, one day adult admission is now $92 while 9 and under is $86. The adult price is a 5.7% increase. If you want to hop between the two gates at Disneyland you’ll have to pay $137 for an adult (a 9.7% increase) or $131 for a child. With a stiff increase like that, Disneyland must want to discourage park hopping.

At Walt Disney World an adult one day, one park admission is now $95 and 9 and under is $89. Disney World wants to encourage you to stay longer, so a 5 day one park per day pass only went up five dollars to $265 (9 and under is $244). That’s a much more reasonable $53 a day admission price. Disney VoluntEARS clean up Florida Coast

Since 1971 Walt Disney World has been a large part of Central Florida tourism. The influence expanded to the coast when the Disney Cruise Line settled in. So it’s nice to see Disney and its cast members giving back to the community with a coastal cleanup project.

VoluntEARS from Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line demonstrated their commitment to local environmental and conservation efforts today, as they teamed with friends, family and community partners to clear more than 250 pounds of trash along the Brevard coastline near the homeport of Disney Cruise Line.

Joining with members from Keep Brevard Beautiful, the United States Coast Guard and the Canaveral Port Authority, this volunteer effort aims to help improve the health of the ocean and waterways.Read More »Disney VoluntEARS clean up Florida Coast
