‘V’ was a hugely successful mini-series back in the 80s (two series, actually, and a tv show) focusing on ‘The Visitors’–Aliens who came to earth to do good, or did they? There was quite a bit of Nazi allegoricals going on, some cheesy acting, and a lot of generally solid science fiction writing as well by series creator Kenneth Johnson. Alas, Johnson and NBC had a bit of a falling out and the TV show just kinda fizzled there at the end.

Flash forward 20+ years and the writing and producing of television sci-fi has advanced quite a bit. With series like Battlestar Galactica, LOST, and The 4400, audiences expect and find quite a bit more nuanced material on their television sets. So Disney/ABC in their infinite wisdom (and desperate for a replacement for LOST) have decide now is a good time to bring back The Visitors and revive ‘V’.

Scott Peters, who created the under appreciated The 4400, is helming as executive producer of the new series. Here’s a preview that was just released:

13 episodes (aka, a half season) have been ordered. So far, no premeire date has been announced other than it will be sometime in 2009-2010. I’m already taking names for anyone who wants to do recaps of the series for The Disney Blog.

Yes, “The Unusuals” is back after a two week break. Did you miss it? I sure did, in fact, between NBA playoffs and getting as many rides as possible on Manta, I forgot that it was on last night. Luckily my DVR worked and so I bring you the recap, slightly delayed.

This weeks episode starts with the end of a foot chase, in which Dets. Shraeger and Walsh run down a small child wearing a backpack and then flashes back to the previous day. Where we see that Dets. Banks and Delahoy interview and eighty-seven year old man who attempted to rob an armored truck unarmed.

Yep, we’re down to the finals of season 8 of Dancing with the Stars. I’m in the camp that says Gilles is the front runner, but he is going to have stiff competition from Melissa and Shawn. This really could be anyone’s trophy, still. As a reminder, we get to watch all three stars dance to the same song, then we get the famous freestyle that can often make or break the stars. It’s time for the semi-finals of season 8. Can you believe we’re here already? The pressure is really going to be on Ty to prove he should be here this week. And all four of the remaining stars complete their dance card by doing the two dances they haven’t done yet. The pros start out by doing some dancing to show us how it should be done. It looked good, but I’m ready to move on to the main event, the stars in the first round - Ballroom.

This weeks episode starts off with a couple big bangs before the first commercial break! First a Det. Powell shows up asking Det. Walsh for help. Powell is from a different precinct but used to work with Walsh. His knuckles and shirt are bloody and he says “I may have killed someone.” If that wasn’t enough Det. Delahoya was sitting in a restaurant when the Sgt. comes in and tells him “Son, your partner, Leo Banks, is dead.”
